Low Resolution Aesthetic – Art Direction, Character And Environment Concept Art

Concept Discovery, Art Direction, Character And Environment Concept Art

My goal on this project was to design characters and environments for sports Wii games that embraced low resolution as an essential part of the aesthetic. Rather than simply optimizing for low resolution, I wanted the characters to look inherently stylized by their low-res design, making it an integral part of the overall style. This concept dates back to 2007, a time when this approach to low-res style was not as commonly explored.

However, the executive leadership decided to pursue a more traditional aesthetic for the game instead.
