1 Bit Labs – Brand Identity Summary

1 Bit Labs was born in 2014 after the Microsoft Victoria studio closed its doors. Five colleagues and I decided to continue building the kind of work we loved, so we created our own studio. We began by porting Xbox 360 titles to Xbox One and continued supporting Microsoft HoloLens as an external development partner, contributing prototypes and presentation demos during its early stages.

From the start, we wanted a brand identity that captured the spirit of the studio. Our focus was creativity, experimentation, and a sense of play. The idea was simple: we mixed technology with imagination to create fun entertainment experiences, whether that meant video games, mixed reality, or virtual reality.

To express that vision, I designed a visual identity built around a playful, handcrafted illustration style combined with clean, bold graphic elements. The brand represented a creative lab where ideas, tech, and fun collided, and where experimentation was at the heart of everything we made.

Aligning six founders with different backgrounds into one logo was a challenge, but we ultimately landed on a direction we all loved.
